[au]workshop is an idea-driven practice creating quality, authentic architecture and catalytic urban, civic and commercial projects with a focus on making places that sustainably invigorate neighborhoods and cities. They bring this same passion and ability to create street friendly and inviting spaces for both commercial and residential uses.
The [au]workshop team has designed mixed-use buildings all around the world, creating productive spaces for both commercial and residential use. Their deep understanding of the need for this development model in their hometown of Fort Collins, CO inspired them to create Confluence.
Randy Shortridge’s focus on urban design and mixed-use architecture from the beginning of his 31 year career has made him an expert in the field; exemplified by award winning projects from Asia to the Americas. His work consistently responds to the challenges of dense urban locales-transit-oriented, affordable housing, historic context and public spaces–with special attention to climate and geography. In 2013, he co-founded [au]workshop and is currently engaged in projects in Colorado, Southern California, Hawaii and Thailand. He is thrilled to be working on a project that will eventually house the [au]workshop offices.
Jason Kersley is an architect who skillfully balances design, management, and technical knowledge with more than 14 years of experience working on complex and diverse project types: mixed use, commercial, civic, laboratory, places of worship, as well as both primary and higher education. Beginning with a background in a variety of construction industry trades, he has the experience and capacity to understand and capture design intent within all details of a project. He finds weaving design with constructability one of the most rewarding challenges of the entire design process. Involvement in projects from early design through project management and construction site relationships has allowed him to develop his leadership and teamwork abilities and expand his desire for meaningful architecture.
