After years of hard work by dedicated volunteers, a whitewater park in Fort Collins is will soon be a reality! The city will break ground on the Poudre River Whitewater Park this fall, and hopes to be complete it in time for springtime fun on the river.
What is a whitewater park?
A ton of fun for one! These unique parks utilize special landscaping techniques on the riverbanks, in-stream, and underwater to create a series play-waves, whitewater, and swimming holes. It designed to provide fun and safe river experience for all ages and skill levels. The perfect place to enjoy an afternoon kayaking, surfing, tubing, picnicking and more! Additionally, case studies on other similar parks have shown them to be a great community investment that bring in millions of tourism dollars.
Where will it be located?
The Poudre River Whitewater Park will be located just a few blocks north of downtown Fort Collins, practically out the front door for the lofts at Confluence. The area is now at the edge of the River District, but this project will restore the river’s beauty and natural habitat, while creating a wonderful new amenity for Fort Collins residents and visitors alike.
